Daily Habits that Cause Mental Disorders!
We all have unhealthy habits, but do you know the effect of these habits on your healh and the health of your children on the long run? Do you want to protect yourself and your children from dangerous effects in the future? If your answer is ‘yes’, then join us in this article. Today we are going to discuss a habit that many people do, one on which research was conducted confirming its connection with the development of Alzheimer’s disease, this habit is nose picking!
Yes, what you just read, my dear, is true! In this article, We will learn about a scientific study showing a link between the habit of nose-picking and the development of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, let’s read to find out more, and to learn the dangers of this habit and teach your children and loved ones as well.
Let’s understand the matter together in a simple way, A team of researchers led by scientists from Griffith University in Australia conducted experiments to study the link between the habit of sticking the finger in the nose with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. And, as usual, the study was conducted on laboratory mice, However, the results are not very different, as they are related to the same symptoms in humans.
In a study published in Scientific Reports this year, It was discovered that there is a type of bacteria (Chlamydia pneumoniae) present in the majority of the brains of people with dementia. According to the study, it has been proven that these bacteria can travel through the olfactory nerve that extends between the nasal cavity and the brain to attack the nervous system. In response, Brain cells deposit a protein (amyloid beta) in response to the attack of these germs, where clumps of this protein are found in large concentrations in people with Alzheimer’s disease, This indicates the association of this type of bacteria with the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease.
Well, we know there are a lot of questions running through your mind right now, my dear, to which you need answers. Such as, what is the connection of nose-picking, this bacteria, and alzheimer’s? Do not worry, let’s go on with the the article to find out the answers.
You should know, my dear, that the habit of putting the finger in the nose causes damage to the internal tissues of the nose, which opens a clear path for the Chlamydia pneumoniae bacteria into the brain. The olfactory nerve in the nose is exposed directly to the air and provides a short path to the brain, bypassing the blood-brain barrier, which causes Alzheimher’s disease in the future.
Now we’ll leave you with what the researchers said in this study:
Neuroscientist and Professor James St John of Griffith University in Australia, who is the co-author of the world’s first research, says:
“We are the first to show that chlamydia pneumoniae can go directly to the nose and into the brain, causing diseases similar to Alzheimer’s disease. We’ve seen this happen in a rat model, and the evidence is likely to be worrying in humans, too.”
The scientists were surprised by the speed with which Chlamydia pneumoniae bacteria took hold in the central nervous system of mice, It is believed that bacteria and viruses see the nose as a highway to the brain. While it is not certain that the effects will be the same in humans, it is still important to follow the results of these studies to understand this common neurological condition.
St John adds:
“We need to conduct this study on humans and see if the same pathway works the same way. It’s research that has been suggested by many people. What we do know is that these same bacteria are found in humans, but we haven’t determined how it got there yet.”
One of the prominent questions the team will be looking to answer is whether an increase in amyloid protein (which is secreted by brain cells in response to chlamydia bacteria) is a normal, healthy immune response that can be reversed when fighting infection, as Alzheimer’s is an incredibly complex disease, as the huge number of studies show. The team at the center is already planning the next stage of the research and aims to prove the same pathway found in humans.
St John also says:
“Once you are over 65, your risk factor really goes up, but we’re also looking for other reasons because it’s not just the age factor, but also environmental exposure. And we think bacteria and viruses are crucial.”
Here are some simple steps to take care of the lining of your beautiful nose, my dear. Professor St. John suggests that people can follow these advice now to reduce the risk of developing late-onset Alzheimer’s disease:
Smell tests may also have potential as detectors for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, says Professor St. John, Because loss of the sense of smell is an early indicator of Alzheimer’s disease.
Finally, We wish you and your family constant health! Pay attention to the simple daily habits that can be harmful in an unexpected way. So be careful, my dear, and take care of your health from the early stages of your life, in order to have a healthy and prosperous life!
